2011 was indeed a tough year filled with great challenges for the hip
hop summit team but we managed to once gain mark the 9th annual Uganda
hip hop celebration with love and great positive affirmations from the
growing hip hop communities. The Journey of hip hop in Uganda has
contributed to the youth Voice in various restricted and deprived social
expression platforms especially the creative practices. Celebrating the
youth through hip hop in Uganda has continued to prove and show that
there is a growing community of young men and women who are aspiring to
experience hip hop through various creative means, whether It's Breaking,
emceeing, Djaying, Graffiti Art, knowledge, and Street fashion the
reconnection to the indigenous emcee continues to lead us in the
direction of opening up the hearts of young people to celebrate their
culture tradition and heritage.

Bavubuka Foundation, recognize the
power of Hip-Hop music and culture to catalyze positive social change.
Hip-Hop is modern youth’s cultural foundation, and symbolizes the
ability of people living in marginalized communities to flourish and
live their dreams. With the vision of creating a peace building platform
that empowers and unifies young people from diverse communities, we
continue to create a voice for the youth in Uganda.
