BAVUBUKA ALLSTARZ AT EARTHDANCE FESTIVAL - MWANZA TANZANIA

17th/09/2010
The Bavubuka trip to mwanza Started on Thursday morning at Bavubuka Community House

Cyno, Gilbert, BB & Sp Omugunjule in the Van
The journey started off in the morning with Silas calling lady Twigg to make sure we’re on time since she was the only person who had not arrived & when she  arrived, Silas went ahead to calling his appointed driver to
come & pick us from the Bavubuka community.
Lady Twiggy, Burney Mc & Job Norman
Within 30minutes the driver had arrived except that he had brought smaller mini van that we couldn’t all fit in which prompted Silas and the driver to go back in town to look for a bigger van. It took them some little
bit of time before they came back with a bigger van (Super custom). Since it was already late, the moment Silas arrived, we quickly packed all our bags in the van.

Cyno Mc Enjoyimg the ride, listening to music
We had to first go to Enttebe Kitoro since the driver forgotten his travel documents. We also used this time to refuel & service the car at one of the petrol station. After had been done, we returned to Kampala and started our journey.
We made our first stop some where in Mpigi district to take take some short interviews from the people. The situation we saw in there area prompted us to stop for a while. The place was dominated by dust in the air due to the road construction that was taking place in there are. The people also complained of the delayed of the road construction which had not only affected both social life but also their health, crops & livestock due to the white dust the had poluted the air for the past two years.

From that spot, we drove up to a place called Lukaya where we stopped  for lunch, refreshments and packed some snack for the journey. Then Babaluku together with 8 of us ( SP Omugunjule, lady Twig, Burney, Gilbert, BB, Job Norman & Cyno MC) had this huge lunch of fish meat, rice & of course Matooke at restaurant at Lukaya.

Our first stop was to buy some of the snack we would on the trip. Burney Mc started off with buying roasted  beef as Cyno Mc & Gilbert Opted for Gonja.

Nyama cyoma all for us.

By 4:30pm we got back on the road with every body satisfied beyond breaking point.
We drove for a while, not until we reached Masaka Nyendo a place commonly known
as “Welcome Masaka” and our van broke down. It took the driver a while to figure out
what was wrong with the van then he called one of the mechanics to looks at it & figure
out what was wrong with it. One of the parts was removed to be repaired and that meant
staying extra hours on the road.

Gilbert went around interviewing some of the children around asking about their lives,
their school & what they wish to become in future. Children also went ahead to tell folk
stories to him, sang songs they knew and recited riddles. Time went by as the mechanic
who had gone had not come back.

Meanwhile at around 7:30 in the evening, Silas grabbed his laptop to freestyle for
children who had gathered around him. He also told other emcees to join the cipher to
bless the children with some freestyle as Job Norman recorded the video, Gilbert on the
side recording the audio and taking pictures of what was going on. The Mechanic finally
came back and fixed the van at around 9:00 and hit the road to for the Mutukula Boarder.
Mutukula Boarder is the place which separates Uganda and Tanzania.
We finally reached Mutukula Boarder at about 11:00, then it was already closed which
meant that we had to wait till morning.
We got out of the car that night to take a look around at the boarder. In the mean time
Cyno MC and Silas had opened up a cipher session to rap about what had happened from
the time we started the journey to where we had reached while other people had taken a
nap.
